Smart Soil Sensing Protecting Groundwater and the Environment
Sensoil Innovations Ltd. is an innovative company developing and implementing smart soil sensing technologies and solutions, for the protection of groundwater and the environment.
Founded in 2013 to commercialize sub-surface technologies developed at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev Israel, Sensoil’s patented Vadose-zone Monitoring™ (VMS) technology is based on over 15 years of research led by co-founder, Prof. Ofer Dahan. Sensoil’s real-time monitoring technology is a crucial “early-warning” tool, recommended by government organizations and regulatory agencies. Unsaturated zone monitoring networks and systems have been installed and applied in over 100 sites including in the EU, USA, China, Australia and Africa. Customers around the globe utilizing and relying upon Sensoil’s robust technology and data include: governments, regulatory agencies, municipalities, industrial and engineering companies, academia and research institutions.
Sensoil is proud to have been awarded The Seal of Excellence.
This is a quality label awarded to project proposals submitted to Horizon 2020, the EU’s research and innovation funding programme.
Sensoil has been selected as a SCENARIOS consortium partner to design, produce and install monitoring systems.
SCENARIOS is a 4-year H2020 Research and Innovation project (RIA) involving 19 partners from 10 European countries and Israel. The goal is to close the knowledge gap and achieve breakthrough TRL advances in the toxicology, detection and remediation of probably the most objectionable and widespread class of contaminants – PFAS, to assist EC and EU countries in decision-making on these substances for environmental safety and human health.
The SCENARIOS consortium project partners have been chosen to form a well-balanced and complementary set of research organisations (RTO’s) and innovation focused SMEs to enable breakthroughs to the system and its key technologies.
Prior to co-founding and launching Sensoil in 2012, Mr. Waxman gained over 25 years of executive management and founding experience in global water management and cleantech companies and associations. These include: Chairman of Water Industries at The Manufacturers Association Israel; President and CEO of IDE Technologies Ltd. (ICL Group, TASE, NYSE); Chairman and CEO at Ludan Environment Group (TASE): Chairman at Dorot valves (Arison Group); Chairman of Fluence Israel operations, (formerly RWL); North American Representative at Dead Sea Works (ICL Group TASE, NYSE) and CEO, Atlantium Technologies Ltd. David holds an MBA and postgraduate studies from Tel Aviv University, Israel and complementary studies at Wharton, Pennsylvania, USA.
Alongside Sensoil, Prof. Dahan is also an associate professor at the Zuckerberg Institute for Water Research, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel. Throughout years of research, he developed the patented Vadose Zone Monitoring System (VMS), specifically designed for the study of water flow and contaminant transport in the unsaturated zone. His main research activities relate to vadose zone hydrology, land use impact on groundwater quality, remediation of contaminated soils, and development of subsurface monitoring technology. Ofer has published over 55 publications, cited by researchers around the globe. He has also written 5 book chapters and last but not least, has 4 registered patents. Ofer attained his post-doctorate at the University of Nevada, Reno, NV, USA. He holds a PhD, MSc and BASc from the Department of Soil and Water Sciences, Faculty of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Quality Sciences, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel.
Mr. Ran is an expert in water supply systems design, surface water routing and exploitation, dam and reservoir design and groundwater control. Prior to joining Sensoil, Roni worked for Mekorot, Israeli’s national water company of Israel as Director of the Engineering Services Unit in his last position, and before that in various projects involving concerning water infrastructures
design and maintenance. Roni holds an MSc in Hydraulic Structures, IHE Delft, The Netherlands, a BSc in Civil Engineering, Technion Haifa, Israel and a BSc in Computer Science, Tel Aviv University, Israel.
Ms. Talpir is a versatile marketing executive and mentor. With over 20 years of international marketing experience and strategy implementation, she is well versed in raising market awareness for disruptive technologies, especially in conservative markets. As an independent marketing executive, she focuses upon working with innovative companies that “do good”.
